Double Treble Crochets

Double treble crochets or triple treble crochet is UK terms. Is a lesser used stitch that provides garments with loads of drape. It’s taller stature gives flexibility to fabric that you can’t achieve with single crochets. Think of the double treble crochet/triple treble crochet stitch when you are looking. to break up solid fabric or add a bit of laceiness to your project.

Keep in mind this stitch will eat up quite a bit of yarn so adjust your yardage as needed when adding it in.

Double Treble Crochet / Triple Treble Crochet

Abbreviation: dtr - US Terms & ttr - UK terms

Instruction: Yarn over 3 times, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over pull through two loops, yarn over pull through two loops, yarn over pull through two loops.

Symbol: The dtr / ttr symbol is easily identified by three slashes on a T shaped symbol. Each slash indicates a yarn over.

Pattern Notes

Ch 1 turning chain does not count as a stitch.

Double Treble Crochet - YO 3 times, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, YO pull through two loops, YO pull through two loops, YO pull through two loops.

Pattern Instruction

Row 1: Ch 21. Work sc in each ch starting with the second chain from the hook. Alternatively you can fsc 20. Ch 1. Turn.

Row 2: Sc across. Ch 5. Turn.

Row 3: Dtr across. Ch 1. Turn.

Row 4: Sc across. Ch 1. Turn.

Row 5: Sc across. Ch 1. Turn.

Row 6: Sc across. Ch 5. Turn.

Row 7: Dtr across. Ch 1. Turn.

Row 8 - 15: Repeat rows 4 - 7.

Row 16: Sc across. Ch 1. Turn.

Row 17: Sc across. Ch 1. Fasten off.
