Delicia Shawl

A long time ago I worked with a woman name Delicia. I was a new assistant manager at the company and she was a seasoned assistant manager. At the time, our colleagues were predominately white, and seeing a familiar face was such a comfort to me. I was new in my professional career. Still in college, but not new to managing people. Delicia was kind and warm when Young Britt needed it. She knew what it meant to be the only black girl in the room and to be asked to sell cosmetics that didn’t attend to your skin tone. When I think about that time in my life when cosmetics were life (they still are honestly), I think about Delicia and the kindness she showed me.
Delicia was taken from this world too soon and rather suddenly. I remember hearing the news of her illness and shortly after that, her passing. That was over 15 years ago. I’m honored to have this shawl bare her name and memory.
The Delicia Shawl is an advanced beginner asymmetrical kite-shaped triangle shawl crochet pattern worked up in a unique shape. It uses two or three colors to make a striped and color block wrap that stay in the place with an incredible drape! This pattern includes a mobile, desktop & printer friendly version.
Yarn
For your Delicia shawl, you can choose any fingering weight yarn you like! I chose Galazy Twist Yarn by Wild Star Fibers for my sample. Galaxy Twist is a 2-ply fingering superwash merino & nylon blend yarn. I ADORE 2-ply fingering weight yarn! Not only does the 2-ply give it a beautiful stitch definition, but the nylon also adds durability to your shawl.
