Makers of Color Collective | FAQs
What is this?
The Makers of Color Collective is a directory of black, indigenous, persons of color in the fiber industry looking to connect with other makers. The Collective is meant to serve the needs of its members. That includes sharing tester calls, alerting designers of design submission opportunities, connecting dyers with designers for collaborations, and providing yarn and tool support when possible.
What is the Makers of Color Collective?
The Makers of Color Collective began as an Instagram account highlighting makers of color in the fiber industry. It is curated and managed by me. Currently, the Instagram account is on hiatus but there is still a healthy community of makers that continue to tag their posts with #MakersofColorCollective. I am hoping to rejuvenate it with new posts from those involved in the Collective.
Who is this for?
Currently, this directory is open to testers and designers of color. We are hoping to elevate testers of color and connecting them with designers of color. We are also hoping to be a tool for designers looking for testers of color. White makers and designers are also welcome to utilize The Collective as well.
