CAL Designer Spotlight: The Crafty Crochetier
One of the best parts of hosting a CAL is inviting your friends along to join in the fun. Before we jump into the CAL I wanted to take a moment to introduce each of the designers involved in the CAL and share their eligible designs for the event.
If you are new here, you can find the information about the CAL here.
Get to know The Crafty Crochetier
Serena Castellanos is the designer behind The Crafty Crochetier! Like many others, Serena learned how to crochet from her grandmother and put it down for many years. She has since returned to crochet and it has become her passion. She not only designs creative accessories that play with texture and structure, but she also has a thriving YouTube channel full of beginning tutorials.
One thing I like about Serena’s work is how she plays with shapes. Take her Crossroads Shawl for example, pictured above. It is such a beautiful shawl and the way it is constructed enhances the look of the traditional triangle shawl.
With over 2 dozen patterns under her belt, Serena will have a project for every level of crocheter. Each pattern she makes, levels up the maker’s skill set. Plus she will never leave you hanging, she has a tutorial for just about everything!
You can find Serena’s patterns on Ravelry & her Website.
Keep up with Serena:

Mini Skein CAL Details
We will begin our CAL on 1/1 and it will end 2/11. This will give you 6 weeks to complete your project. Now is the time to start thinking about what design you would like to complete.
Where
This event will take place on my Discord Server. If you are already a member you can go to the RoleSelect channel to add CAL participant to your role. If you are new to my Discord server, you will be prompted to select your primary craft and indicate that you are joining the CAL.
why
Because if you’re anything like me, you have far more mini skeins than what you know what to do with! Maybe you bought a countdown box and it didn’t have a pattern included, maybe the pattern included wasn’t to your liking, or maybe…you bought minis with reckless abandon all year long without a project in mind. Whatever the reason, those minis are languishing unused doesn’t matter. What matters is that we put them to good use!
so what’s next?
Over the next few days you will be introduced to all of the designers participating in the CAL. I can’t wait to share who I’ve partnered with! Make sure you are a subscriber to my newsletter to stay updated on what is going on with the CAL.
For now, start gathering your minis and dream of color combinations for your next masterpiece!
