Flock Fiber Festival
I absolutely adore fiber festivals! Over the past few years, I've had the pleasure of attending several, and each time has left me feeling invigorated and bursting with new ideas and, admittedly, plenty of yarn.
While I always have an amazing time at these events, I've noticed a lack of representation of BIPOC businesses on the sales floor. I know there are numerous talented BIPOC businesses in the fiber industry, but they face challenges in participating in these events, capital being a major factor.
As the curator of The Makers of Color Collective, I wanted to make a BIPOC-focused impact at my local event, The Flock Fiber Festival. Collaborating with the organizers, we established a booth featuring products by BIPOC makers, providing a platform to showcase and support these talented individuals.
This year, I'm taking a new approach. I've joined forces with Marcela, the inspirational owner of Little Wing Fibers, to create a special booth at the festival. Marcela's unique, diverse Chilean and Costa Rican heritage shapes her incredible yarn collections, and I'm thrilled to offer my support and promote her brand at the event.
If you're attending Flock, please let me know in the comments! I'd be delighted to meet you and introduce you to Marcela. Alternatively, if you're unable to attend, there are numerous ways to support us, such as donations, following Marcela on social media, purchasing her yarn, and spreading the word about Little Wing Fibers. Your support means the world to us!
